Recreation in the Great Outdoors of The Energy Corridor
While The Energy Corridor is among Houston’s largest employment centers, it’s also a destination to enjoy more than 50 miles of trails and 26,000 acres of recreational parks – including the beautiful Terry Hershey Park, which will soon be expanded north of the Katy Freeway adjacent to Wolff Companies’ Central Park.
Running through the heart of The Energy Corridor, Terry Hershey Park is named for the late conservationist who campaigned to protect Buffalo Bayou. The 500-acre park runs parallel to a 6-mile stretch of the bayou. Amenities include 11 miles of trails, a boat/canoe launch, a butterfly garden, lighted walking trails, picnic areas, playgrounds, hike and bike trails, mountain bike trails, wetland habitats and much more.
Plans are underway to expand Terry Hershey Park, adding new parkland
north of the Katy Freeway near Wolff Companies’ Central Park.
The proposed expansion would extend Terry Hershey Park north of the Katy Freeway and connect it to the Addicks Dam and reservoir area. New trails are proposed in an area north of the freeway, immediately east of Wolff Companies’ Central Park.
In addition to Terry Hershey Park, The Energy Corridor has several other large parks with a multitude of recreational options. These include: George Bush Park, Bear Creek Pioneers Park and Cullen Park, all in the Addicks and Barker Reservoir areas.
Cyclists cross a trail bridge in George Bush Park.
George Bush Park, located in the Barker Reservoir, boasts 7,800 acres and includes a model airplane field, equestrian center and firearms shooting range. The park also includes the very popular 15-acre Mille Bush Dog Park, named for the former “First Dog” owned by the President Bush and the late First Lady Barbara Bush.
Bear Creek Pioneers Park, located within the Addicks Reservoir, is a 2,168-acre park offering three 18-hole golf courses, a covered rodeo arena, hiking and biking trails, picnic areas, wildlife habitats and much more.
One of America’s largest urban parks, Cullen Park consists of a stunning 9,270 acres with amenities that include baseball and soccer fields, picnic areas, archery ranges, lighted walking trails, picnic areas and more.
Wolff Companies has two sites available in Central Park, directly adjacent
