Texas ranks third in the country in GDP growth, study shows
Texas’ GDP grew 4.03% over a 12-month period ending last fall, according to the latest CivMetrics data.
Securing the No. 3 spot, Texas’ GDP for the third quarter of 2022 was $1.8 million.
Nationally, the GDP rose 1.9% year over year and 0.8% quarter over quarter.
Idaho was the No. 1 state for year-over-year GDP growth, with 5.73%, followed by Tennessee at No. 2, with 4.48%. After Texas at No. 3, Florida came in at No. 4 with 3.46% and Oregon at No. 5 with 3.3%.
There were also a few states in the U.S. that fell behind in GDP: Louisiana, down 2.24%; Alaska, down 1.84%; North Dakota, down 1.33%; and Hawaii down 1.09%.
CivMetrics is a nonprofit media company that covers cities and provides data and measurement in government, economics, public policy and economic development. The company collected economic data from all 50 U.S. states for the study.
The information in the report included the 12-month period from Q3 2021 through Q3 2022.
