New Cypress area development with over 800 homes to launch this spring
One of Houston’s largest suburban neighborhoods – and named one of the “hottest zip codes” in the country – Cypress is about to get a new 800-home development to capitalize on its popularity.
Sorella, a new community near Cypress is gearing up to start home sales this spring with homes starting at around $300,000.
As the local real estate market cools down, people looking to buy a new home are headed to the suburbs for more affordable options. The 838 new homes along the FM 2920 corridor, near Mueschke Road, will be available for purchase in phases. The first phase will start with 278 homes featuring single-family designs ranging from 1,295 to 2,825 square feet.
M/I Homes and Johnson Development Services partnered to develop the project in 2021, with M/I Homes serving as the exclusive builder on 433 of Sorella’s homes, in what the developers call its “Smart Series” of homes, according to a news release.
“The Smart Series is extremely nimble, with multiple structural customizations so buyers can add bedrooms, media rooms, additional outdoor living space, and more,” said Jay McManus, Houston division president for M/I Homes. “And by offering professionally curated design packages, we’re able to keep home prices more affordable.”
Johnson Development Services President Michael Cox said that the area near Cypress is a prime area for growth and development, especially in recent years.
“This is a fast-growing area with excellent access to major thoroughfares, including the Grand Parkway and Highway 249,” Cox said.
The homes include a variety of amenities, including lakeside walking trails, multiple playgrounds, resort-style pools, pavilions, and event lawns. The Kleb Woods Nature Preserve, located nearby, offers trails to explore with picnic areas, a scout campground, a nature center, and a bird blind.
Sorella will also offer a limited number of half-acre properties for new homeowners and those looking for more affordable homes, Cox told Ralph Green of the Houston Chronicle.
