Koch Modular Process Systems To More Than Triple Size of Houston Plant
A company that specializes in the engineering and fabrication of modular mass transfer systems for the chemical processing industry is expanding its Houston-area operations.
Koch Modular Process Systems’ pilot plant at 6611 Killough St. in Houston will grow from 5,000 square feet to 18,000 square feet, according to a statement from the company. Work on the plant expansion is already underway and will be completed in phases. The first phase includes office and laboratory spaces.
The added space will allow the company to improve its analytical lab and testing capabilities and address customer demand, according to the statement. The company’s customer base covers several industries, including biotech, chemicals, food, fragrance, petrochemicals and pharmaceuticals.
“Our mission at Koch Modular has always been to provide companies of all sizes the tools, resources, and expertise they need to accomplish groundbreaking technologies that will create positive change for our future,” Koch Modular Vice President Wendy Parker said in a statement. “Increasing our size will dramatically grow our analytical lab and testing capabilities for clients across various industries.”
Koch Modular plans to use the expanded space “to run both bench and pilot-scale tests to generate data required to develop and test mass transfer processes.”
The pilot plant is used for distillation, liquid-to-liquid extraction, stripping and reaction chemistry, particularly for companies hoping to scale their products from pilot phase to commercialization.
Plans also include upgrading the plant’s office and conferencing capabilities, according to the statement.
Koch-Glitsch, a subsidiary of Koch Industries, originally leased the 5,000-square-foot space at 6611 Killough St. Koch Modular, headquartered in Paramus, New Jersey, is now the owner and operator of the space, the statement said.
