Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital opens some services ahead of 2025 grand opening
Health care in the northwest Houston area is getting a major boost thanks to the future Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital.
The hospital, which is still under construction, confirmed it opened the following on May 6:
- Houston Methodist Neal Cancer Center at Cypress
- Houston Methodist Breast Care Center at Cypress
- Houston Methodist Infusion Center at Cypress
- Houston Methodist Outpatient Lab Services at Cypress
“The opening of our cancer, infusion, and breast care services, along with the recent opening of our physical therapy and rehabilitation programs, are milestones for Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital as we work toward opening and becoming a health care hub for this community,” said Houston Methodist Cypress CEO Trent Fulin in a statement to the Houston Business Journal.
The openings make up the second wave of services opening at Houston Methodist Cypress, the system’s ninth hospital, which broke ground in 2022. The first wave in March included emergency care, orthopedics and sports medicine, physical and occupational therapy, and primary care.
The staggered openings of services comes just under a year before the hospital is set to hold its grand opening in the first quarter of 2025. Houston Methodist confirmed the hospital will have 100 licensed beds when it officially opens in Q1 2025, and it will eventually expand to 400 total beds.
Houston Methodist Cypress is located on the east side of the Northwest Freeway between Barker-Cypress and Skinner roads.
The cancer center, breast care center, infusion center and outpatient lab services are in Medical Office Building 1. Medical Office Building 2 hosts orthopedics and sports medicine as well as the physical therapy and rehabilitation clinics.
“We’re proud to bring cancer care to our community,” said Lindsey Pimentel, director of oncology services at Houston Methodist Cypress Hospital. “It’s important for us to ensure every patient that walks through our doors feels the high-quality, comprehensive care provided at Houston Methodist close to home.”

The project is also set to create massive job growth in the northwest Houston area. Houston Methodist Cypress will open with 770 employees and eventually will have 2,900 employees once it is fully complete.
Real estate firm JLL projects the final delivery of the Cypress campus to be Q4 2025, with over 570,000 square feet of building space.
Houston Methodist said that the Cypress hospital will incorporate technological innovations pioneered at the system’s research hubs throughout Houston. These include the Center for Innovation at the Texas Medical Center and a hub in the Ion incubator. This year, Houston Methodist also leased space in the Texas Medical Center Helix Park campus, signing on for 75,000 square feet of research laboratories.
As population grows along the U.S. 290 corridor, medical offices are following. A group of physician investors broke ground in April on the first building of Grand Cypress Medical Pavilions, a 30-acre medical office campus at the northeast corner of Highway 290 and the Grand Parkway.
