Hospitals in Texas Medical Center – West Campus Continue to Grow and Garner Praise from Peers
Houston is known as a destination city for world-class healthcare, including two top-performing hospitals recently ranked among the best for overall satisfaction by Houston doctors – Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus and Houston Methodist West Hospital. Located in in the heart of The Energy Corridor in The Texas Medical Center-West Campus and adjacent to Wolff Companies’ Ten Oaks, both hospitals earned high marks by almost 4,000 Houston doctors who responded to an annual survey conducted by the Harris County Medical Society .
“Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus and Houston Methodist West Hospital are two outstanding institutions that have continued to expand facilities and staff to meet the increasing needs of a growing West Houston, and they do so while upholding the highest standards of care,” said Carolyn Wolff Dorros, Executive Vice President, Wolff Companies. “These hospitals, along with MD Anderson Cancer Center that will soon open in nearby Central Park, form West Houston’s “Healthcare Row” – a concentration of top-notch medical facilities located in the center of the high-growth West Houston market.”
Texas Children’s West Campus earned the top ranking for overall satisfaction, scoring first in 11 of 13 Quality of Medical Care categories for an overall score of 88 percent. Neighboring Houston Methodist West Hospital earned a very respectable three-way tie for third place with an overall satisfaction score of 84 percent.
A survey of Houston doctors by the Harris County Medical Society ranked Texas Children’sHospital West Campus number one in overall satisfaction.
Houston Methodist West Hospital, also located in the Texas Medical Center – West Campus, earned a high overall satisfaction ranking by Houston doctors.
Ranking fourth for overall satisfaction was another highly respected Houston institution, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, which will soon have a major presence in The Energy Corridor. Opening later this year, MD Anderson is constructing a $169-million, 260,000-square-foot outpatient diagnostic and treatment center in Central Park, a Wolff Companies development.
MD Anderson’s $169-million diagnostic and treatment center in Wolff Companies Central Park is scheduled to open in early 2019.
Together, these three institutions represent an investment of $1 billion in West Houston’s “Healthcare Row”. The west campuses of Texas Children’s and Methodist have both undergone several rounds of expansion since opening in 2010. MD Anderson was upsized from 175,000 square feet to 260,000 square feet before it broke ground. This expansion reflects the growth of the West Houston market as well as an increased demand for greater convenience in healthcare services. The satisfaction scores reflect the improved patient and physician experience of receiving high quality care nearer to home and work in an easy to access and attractive facility.
