Retail Wrap: More options for burgers, coffee and doughnuts

Highlights of recent real estate activity in the Houston area:

The Webster has opened a 5,000-square-foot boutique in the new “Jewel Box” area of The Galleria. The store sells men’s and women’s clothing and accessories with brands such as Alexander Wang, Aurelie Bidermann, Chloe, Givenchy, Pierre Hardy, Maison Rabih Kayrouz, Olympia Le Tan, Rosie Assoulin, Sonia Rykiel, Saint Laurent, Stella McCartney and Valentino. Owned by Laure Heriard Dubreuil, it is the brand’s first store outside of Florida.

The Carl’s Jr. burger chain is venturing inside the Loop. A restaurant is under construction at the northeast corner of Main and Buffalo Speedway in the Loop Shopping Center owned by GAG Reddy. Rod Scarborough of Rod Scarborough Properties represented the tenant and Abe Charski of ACI represented the landlord. The land near NRG Stadium was previously the site of a Church’s Chicken, which has been torn down. Carl’s Jr. has about 25 locations in the Houston market.

Glazed Donuts has leased a 1,588-square-foot building at 13429 Briarforest near Eldridge. The landlord was represented by Kristen Barker with Wulfe & Co.

The Music Connection has leased a 1,200-square-foot space in the Riverstone Shopping Center at University Boulevard and LJ Parkway in Sugar Land. Hannah Smith and Josh Jacobs of Edge Realty Partners represented the landlord, River LJ Properties.

Mockingbird Baby has leased 2,400 square feet in Woodwind I Shopping Center, 453 Sawdust Road, The Woodlands. Aron Harris of Westco Properties represented the landlord, Caltim, Ltd. Kimberly DeVos of Cypressbrook Co. represented the tenant.

Caffé Bene is now open at GreenStreet offering European coffees, Belgian waffles, Italian gelatos and Korean desserts. It is part of downtown’s GreenStreet development on Dallas between San Jacinto and Fannin.

I Love Kickboxing has leased a 3,250-square-foot space in the Spring Plaza Shopping Center at Spring Cypress and Telge in Cypress. Hannah Smith and Josh Jacobs of Edge Realty Partners represented the landlord, Winland Spring Investment. Patrick Wimberly of Houston Commercial Development represented the tenant.

Hunington Properties has purchased 3.3 acres at the northwest corner of Barker Cypress Road and Park Row for The Shops at Ten Oaks. The new center, which is expected to break ground this spring, is planned to include a free-standing restaurant and an additional 20,000 square feet of retail space. It will be part of Wolff Companies’ 83-acre Ten Oaks development in the Energy Corridor. The shopping center will be next to The Vic on Park Row, a new Hunington Residential apartment project. The site is north of the Texas Medical Center–West Campus.
