Construction Contracts Awarded and Work Underway on Park Row Completion Project in The Energy Corridor

Construction is underway to complete the “missing mile” of Park Row between Addicks Park and Ride lot through to North Eldridge Parkway.  Located in heart of The Energy Corridor, the thoroughfare is projected to be completed in about a year and a half.

The two-phase Park Row completion project, facilitated by a public/private venture sponsored by The Energy Corridor District, includes the design and construction of Park Row as a four-lane major thoroughfare from the intersection of the I-10 HOV/Tollroad access ramp at the Addicks Park & Ride lot to the thoroughfare’s existing terminus just west of the intersection with North Eldridge Parkway; a four-lane bridge over Langham Creek; water, sanitary sewer and storm water drainage infrastructure; and street lighting and landscaping. The new Park Row will begin in the area where corporations including Shell, ConocoPhillips, Worley Parsons and Foster Wheeler are located, then cut through the heart of The Energy Corridor, past Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus and Methodist West Houston Hospital and on to Katy.

“Investment in infrastructure and continued development in The Energy Corridor are critical to bring more businesses and jobs to the City of Houston,” said David S. Wolff, Chairman and President of Wolff Companies. “Completion of Park Row will create a major thoroughfare that will extend 11 miles from Eldridge through to the City of Katy – a valuable relief route and commuter enhancement to Interstate 10. When completed, the Park Row extension will reduce congestion at the major intersections of Interstate 10 at North Eldridge Parkway, Dairy Ashford Road and State Highway 6, by providing direct westerly movement through the North Eldridge/Dairy Ashford intersection. The new Park Row will also be of great benefit to businesses within The Energy Corridor itself, allowing more fluid transit of employees and services vehicles throughout the area.”

Menade, Inc. will construct Park Row, Phase I, consisting of 3,000 feet of the four-lane thoroughfare. The second phase of the project is expected to break ground later this year.

“This Park Row Completion Project will not only complete the thoroughfare but also the municipal infrastructure in the last remaining undeveloped area of The Energy Corridor, setting the foundation for future development,” said Wolff. “Having infrastructure in place is a significant plus because it allows companies to start on their vertical improvements as quickly as possible.”

Wolff Companies announced last December its newest development in The Energy Corridor, Central Park, a 78-acre master-planned, mixed-use business community located on the north side of I-10 between North Eldridge Parkway and SH 6.
