Texas Medical Center-West Campus Begins Expansion Plans

Residents from Victoria, El Campo, Sugar Land and Bryan/College Station can now access world-class health care close to home at Texas Medical Center – West Campus.

Anchored by two renowned organizations – Texas Children’s Hospital and The Methodist Hospital System – the 170-acre medical complex is located at the Northwest corner of I-10 and Barker Cypress Road.  With more than 1 million Houstonians currently residing in West Houston and an additional 400,000 projected to arrive over the next 15 years, it is no surprise that both healthcare organizations have experienced an extremely successful first year.

To meet the growing need of both patients and physicians, each institution has significant expansion plans underway for 2012.

Houston’s first suburban hospital designed, built and equipped exclusively for children, Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus has exceeded projections over the past year with more than 10,000 diagnostic and therapeutic visits, 16,000 radiology procedures, 14,000 emergency center visits and 1,200 surgical procedures.

An investment of $220 million, Phase I included a 221,000 square-feet, 5-story outpatient facility and a 294,000 square-feet, 48-bed inpatient facility. Serving one of the nation’s fastest growing child populations, Texas Children’s West Campus is currently planning Phase II on its 55-acre campus.

With 84 acres in the Texas Medical Center – West Campus, Methodist is also expanding its footprint in 2012 to meet the growing demand.  Last December, Methodist began working with architects to develop its second medical office building.

The 150,000 square feet building will be designed to reflect the architecture of Methodist’s first medical office building, which is already at 90% occupancy.  Additionally, plans are underway for a parking garage which will be located behind the first building for convenient access to both the hospital and the medical office buildings.

Texas Medical Center – West Campus is designed as the “ideal” medical center development with access to major thoroughfares, ample free parking, and beautifully landscaped grounds including 10 acres of ponds and hundreds of trees.

A 23-acre site remains available in Texas Medical Center – West Campus. For more information about Texas Medical Center – West Campus or any Wolff Companies property, please call 713-626-8050.
