Pair of Hotels Coming to Ten Oaks in The Energy Corridor

Courtyard by Marriott and Hampton Inn by Hilton to Break Ground This Summer

To meet the growing needs of The Energy Corridor, Dallas-based Western International has purchased 5.2 acres where they will develop a pair of hotels, a Courtyard by Marriott and a Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton. Western International chose Wolff Companies’ Ten Oaks development because of its location at the corner of Barker-Cypress Road and Park Row, across the street from the Texas Children’s and Methodist’s West Houston hospitals and within walking distance of major employers such as Wood Group, Mustang Engineering and Sercel, as well as high quality development standards. The two 135-room hotels are slated to break ground this summer.

“Hotels such as the Courtyard by Marriott and the Hampton Inn & Suites offer families andbusiness travelers very convenient options, whether they are in need of accommodations for overnight or over a week,” said David W. Hightower, executive vice president and chief development officer, Wolff Companies. “We are excited to be able to provide more choices for the West Houston community.”

The Courtyard by Marriott brand is designed for business travelers, with functional rooms and multi-use public area. The hotel aims to provide productivity through connectivity and mobility, with free WiFi in lobbies and guestrooms.

Hampton Inn properties offer warm surroundings, a friendly service culture known as “Hamptonality,” and complete satisfaction with the 100% Hampton® Guarantee.

Western International already had a presence in The Corridor having developed the Residence Inn in Wolff Companies’ Park 10 development and the Marriott Hotel at Interstate 10 and Park Ten Blvd. “The strong growth of The Energy Corridor coupled with the expansions of the Texas Medical Center – West Campus make the Ten Oaks site an ideal location to meet the growing demand for lodging in the area,” said Michael H. Mahoney, President of Western International.

With 6.4 million square feet of Class A office space under construction or announced to start in 2014, The Energy Corridor is one of the strongest growing employment centers in the nation. Upon completion of these projects The Corridor will have over 28 square feet of office space, the majority of which is Class “A”. Another 4 million feet are being planned.

“With such dynamic growth in the energy industry and The Corridor the need for high quality hospitality continues to grow. In our Park Ten and Westlake Center developments in The Corridor we have developed sites for 12 other hotels over the years. Along with other hotels in the area, the new hotels in Ten Oaks brings the total number of hotels in The Corridor to 26,” notes Hightower. “This will also create additional demand for retail and food services, especially in high traffic areas like Park Row and Barker Cypress Road.”

The remaining properties in Ten Oaks are planned for retail, financial services, office and high density residential uses.

Now in its fifth decade, Wolff Companies has been a leader in developing mixed-use business environments in the Houston area. The company’s developments include: Central Park; Ten Oaks at the Texas Medical Center – West Campus; Westway Park; Park 10; Interwood; First Crossing; and Beltway. Ten Oaks and Westway Park have been awarded the Quality Planned Development designation by the West Houston Association. The American Society of Landscape Architects, Scenic Houston, Keep America Beautiful, the American Institute of Architects and the Municipal Art Commission have all recognized Wolff Companies’ developments for enhancing and preserving the natural beauty of land, while meeting the ever-changing needs of business.
