A Solid Financial Investment, Land Acquisition is on the Rise

Last year was one of the most volatile years in the history of the stock market. According to a recent Forbes article, the Dow moved 200Dav points or more on 37 days—and, from August 1 to December 31, 2011, the average daily difference between the high and low for the day averaged 269 points. While the S&P 500 surprisingly finished a couple of points ahead in 2011, reports indicate the activity was so volatile that investors pulled more than one-tenth of their money out of stock mutual funds, leaving Americans looking for low-risk investment options.

An alternative to the volatility of the stock market, land investments offer a low-risk option with a high return on investment. In the past year the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Services noted a 6.4% increase in land values. According to rural land trends by the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University, individuals in and around Houston have increasingly purchased farms and ranches in outlying counties for investment, recreation and weekend retreats. With limited land available in the Washington County area, high-quality scenic tracts are in high demand.

With convenient proximities to Houston and Austin, Gates Ranch, a community of family farms, has been carefully planned to emphasize the natural beauty of each property only enhancing the value of the investment. A deed-restricted community, the landscape of Gates Ranch is enhanced with spring-fed ponds, stately pecans, oaks and sycamores and miles of rolling hills.  With the increased focus on rural land investment and Wolff Companies’ dedication to Washington County, Gates Ranch will only continue to experience significant increases in value.
