When the leadership of Texas Children’s Hospital began discussions in 2005 about potential sites for its first community hospital outside the Texas Medical Center, the options were many. But the choice soon became clear. After crunching current and projected population numbers, Texas Children’s quickly realized that the future of the Houston area, like the American frontier of old, lies to the west.
